Hailing from North London, United Kingdom, Karen Nyame better known as her moniker ‘KG’ is an accomplished creative specialising in the fields of broadcast media and music.
Her ambition has brought her high levels of achievement, completing voiceover work for The Beat London 103.6 FM (formerly known as Bang Radio), production work with Smooth Radio, Gem 106, presenting on Westside Radio 89.6 FM and BBC Radio 1Xtra. Acknowledging Karen’s broadcasting skills, the BBC selected her voice for “Xtra Talent”, a brand new programme format. She was then chosen to pioneer an R&B music segment for the new radio series in 2012. In 2016 she became a frequent guest panellist on BBC Radio London, discussing gender and race diversity issues in the media industry. Having had regular guest spots this year on NTS, Reprezent Radio, Worldwide FM, Radar & Rinse FM, her newly acquired, specialist monthly slot on Foundation FM sees Karen take her DJing and broadcasting talents to the next level.
Her music production portfolio has given her the chance to collaborate with Ghanaian Afrobeat artist Sarkodie and now, she has revived a few of her UK Funky/House tracks (KG EP) teaming up with global, indie music label, Goon Club Allstars. She will be releasing more music whilst holding down major local & international residencies, DJing at special events throughout the course of the year and onwards. Her high-energy DJ sets match her frenetic production style, merging African polyrhythmic beats, euphoric melodies and hard hitting basslines.
In Journalism she has been equally successful, working with online/print outlets like SoulCulture, Nupé and The Ealing Gazette.
Karen’s power lies in networking, production, creative consultancy, building connections and striving to seek new levels of success.
